MPJ Guidelines

MPJ packets consisting of a Preference/Conflict form and a data file with information from adjudicator CVs have now been mailed to all debaters and liaisons.  Debaters may now evaluate the adjudicator CVs and rank their adjudicators accordingly.  When this data is entered into the computer, the tab program will attempt to match teams with adjudicators they have both ranked highly.  In rare cases where that is not possible (due to blocking constraints or conflicting preferences), teams may be judged by adjudicators they both are constrained against or both equally dislike.  In either case, both teams will have adjudicators they have ranked equally.

IMPORTANT: For this process to work smoothly, it is important that we have a Preference/Conflict form from every team.  Liaisons, please collect forms from your teams and submit them via e-mail to apply@khsdc.com by Monday, January 26
th 2009.  Teams not submitting forms by this date may be assigned judges randomly.

Blocking

Prior to the beginning of the championship debaters and adjudicator applicants will be issued a ‘Block-Out Form’ that must be thoroughly completed and submitted to the Chief Adjudicator:

Individual Blocking is when Adjudicators are prevented, due to conflicts-of-interest, from judging debaters they have had ‘contact’ with prior to the championship. Read more in 'Blocking Procedures'...
